Autumn 2009

Following the grant received from the Headley Trust to fund the position of Conservation Workshop Manager for a period of three years, the Trust is now actively recruiting for this position.

An experienced boatbuilder is sought who will be responsible for the care of the collection of historic vessels and amongst their first jobs will be the task of turning the former Windermere Building into a custom workshop.

The collection has been deemed ‘the most important collection of boats generic to one location, anywhere in the world’ and this will be a fantastic opportunity for a skilled craftsman to work on the beautiful vessels.

It is also hoped that funds will be raised to create an assistants position forming the beginnings of the team that will be required to restore all the boats to their former glory. Once the work is up and running, volunteers will also be sought to play a vital role in helping the whole team move the project forward.
