Project News

Following the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund in 2011 we have been putting together the team that will take the development forward, including competition winning architects Carmody Groarke. Alongside the architects are Arup as engineers and Real Studios for interpretation and exhibition design. We have also recruited a new curator for the project who will join the Trust in March 2012 and will lead the interpretation and activity plan for the new museum. In addition we are working closely with Counterculture Partnership to develop the business plan ensuring that the new museum is a sustainable development for the future.
The fundraising campaign has got off to a positive start and will continue throughout 2012 to raise the £2.5 million funding required to match the HLF application for £7.5 million. We would be pleased to hear from anyone who is interested in this unique collection of boats and would like to make a donation or sponsor part of the project, such as the restoration of a particular boat or an aspect of the new building, docks and conservation work.
Further information about SL Osprey and the rest of the collection can be found under The Collection part of the site.
